While I'm Healing....

While I'm going bored out of my gourd, trying to HEAL up inside and out from my recent surgery....
(I decorated the mantel and the table in the front room BEFORE my surgery)

I've been readying the house working on last minute St. Patrick's decorations and food details for our upcoming party this weekend. I'm a bit overwhelmed thinking about it because I can't lift anything major for a while yet. But we have these big strong boys you see...and they will help us out.

We have held a St. Patrick's Day gathering ever since I went to Ireland oh so many years ago.
And because my Father in Law always made my husband's family a "certain" special meal around St. Patrick's and on occasion throughout the year.

Of course we serve the expected fare of "Corned Beef and Cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and potato rolls." Along with whatever else we decide to add in that "seems" green or Irish. HA!

We Mahan's hold a "non alcoholic" party, so there aren't any "Green" beverages.
We have enough silliness as it is.

"Himself and Herself."

While we were in New York this past Christmas....we ate at two Irish Pubs and we also ate Christmas Day dinner at a very popular and renowned Irish "Restaurant" named "Kennedy's."

I will post those photos on this site in the next few days for my "Celebrating Ireland" week here at the "Secret Gardener."

Do come back and help me celebrate!

We are Irish and I would have loved to see Ireland.... My grandfather was born in Dublin on St Patrick's day........ Can't get more Irish than that........ I am Irish Indian so it makes for a wild ride... Enjoy your celebration and I wish you all of the luck of the Irish!

Your mantle looks great and I really like your collection of cottage teapots.

Hope your party is a lot of fun (even without the green beer) - how about green tea?

Hope you are soon recovered from your surgery.

Joyce - I would so love to be a part of your SPD party. There are very few here. Most of the folks around this part of ND are Germans From Russia, with a few Norwegians. Some of the Irish came in with the building of the railroad but they are not very visible now.

I have that same trileaf shape plate!

Joyce, please let the boys do the heavy stuff and you rest and don't lift heavy or even medium weight---can't have you getting a hernia after surgery. My great grandmother was a McFarlain, now you know that I have lots of Irish blood and that is where my red hair came from.
I only dream of going to Ireland, but who knows, my son may want to go one day and invite me along for the trip. Glad you are feeling better. I have Easter and St. Patricks' decorations out. Can't do much decorating here since the living furniture isn't mine and I don't want to damage it. Big Hugs, Pat :)
