 Oh, how I wish dear little Pooh was right about that statement.

To me at the moment...it's the "big" things that are taking up alot of room in my world.

And I think I'd like to run away and hide with Pooh and his friends in the 

"100 Acre Woods."

Even when life was tough for Pooh, and his little band of friends..........

They still always seem to have "cheery" dispositions.

Except for one friend. But he usually became happy in the end.

Frankly speaking though. I am becoming tired of this old, crazy world with all of it's badness and sadness.

I'm so trying NOT to be Eeyore.

YIKES!!!!

I can't believe I've been away for a week and haven't written anything.
I was very sick, as well as very busy!!!
So here I am for now, until I fly away.....I have a MILLION things to do today.
As usual. HA!!!
I WISH this were me right now.......Look at this little girl having "Tea" while tubing.....can you imagine??

What GREAT parents to remember all the "Tea Items" and such on a trip like this. I've never seen anything like it. HA!
It works for me though. HA!

I have been missing the "Pool group" and the WATER badly.

It's cooled off enough in South Louisiana that we aren't swimming any longer.
I really hate that. Blah!!
But I do like the cooler temps .....we've been in the upper 70's so that is better for me.

I have supper planned out and we are having some lovely "Trout"
that we were given a few weeks ago that I froze.
It's BEAUTIFUL looking so we have been looking forward to having it.

Right......well "Meatless Monday" went out RIGHT OUT the WINDOW for us during the hurricanes and I haven't been able to pull them back yet......so at least it's fish is all I say.

We eat less and less Red meat.
Which is fine with me especially after I priced some yesterday and it was a FORTUNE for a rump roast which we haven't had in forever.

How do people afford that???

Hang in there........the days ahead are going to get interesting and rough I believe.

So batten down the hatches now while you are able to and do what you can.

I've seen many blogs lately where people are writing on subjects like
"How to prepare for the Recession" and "How to "Stretch a Dollar" and other such topics like that so I know people are thinking on the "SAME PAGE".....even though many of us really aren't feeling all of the effects of Wall Street and the other Financial Markets abroad.......yet.

However......... I think it's coming.


I'm guessing that all of this economic meltdown won't be a "Pretty Little Tea Party" either so have those now. :~)

And have some cake too.

Now I'm not saying......"Let them eat cake"......what I am saying is
"Let's EAT some cake.

Big difference.
And I think it's cheaper than Rump Roast too.

Good life.....Good friends.....

Miss Priss snapped this photo of my friend Shawn and I after lunch at the Cafe we went to.

Yesterday my good friend Shawn, Miss Priss and I went to lunch and had a great visit.
Miss Priss and I decided it was cold enough (and it was for here) to wear our new hats and our winter scarves...good thing too because where we were first seated at the Cafe......was so cold....then we saw there was a "HOLE" in the woodwork in the window....like from humidity and condensation...ummmmm......
"Welcome to Louisiana."

This eatery is no "dump" either. It's just how it works here with the weather here at times.

So we moved tables.....and the place was STILL cold.
Oh well.....better cold than hot. Or something like that.Miss Priss...cold but cheerful.

Shawn gave me and Miss Priss some lovely "Christmas gifts" and we had some things for her and her children as well.

I MUST say though....I was the one that was SOOOOO happy with my GIFT!!! I mean we all liked what we recieved...but I NEEDED what I was given big time.

Shawn gave me a tube of lipstick and it was a MIRACLE I am telling you!
I had just started to "fret" a bit the other day....because my ONE and only tube of lipstick is down to a thin "sliver"....ha!

I'm the kind of person that HAS GOT to have on lipstick...I mean I may not dress up...I may not have my hair done...I may not even have any other makeup on my face but I have to have on a tad bit of lipstick.
Don't ask me why but I am a bit of a freak about that.

Thing is..I never buy make up until I NEED it bad I hate spending money on make up so even though I need and use it. Just me.
So..I was very out of lipstick at this point.

I had even resorted to looking for something "close" to the color I normally use at the GROCERY STORE the other day when I was in there getting some items.....sill me.

However.....my friend Shawn didn't know any of this. I was overjoyed when I opened my package and seen a lovely tube of lipstick in my EXACT color!! She used to sell this make up so she knew what I wore! HA!
IS this awesome though or what?

This is the SECOND time this has happened to me since Christmas....

I had been wanting a new "cloth purse"....something lighter weight and something CUTE (of course) and something...ummmm....cheap (not designer)....yet elegant enough....Ha! And something with a longer handle so I could cross it over my body if I'm out shopping or whatever.

Hummmm......it was a tall order....because I had even somewhat looked around and nothing suited me.

We had received a package before Christmas from my Father and Step Mother and I put all the gifts under the tree without checking them over any at all.

One night.....before leaving to go to church.....I reached to turn off the Christmas tree lights and had to "move" one of the packages...and it was soft. Hummmm....and it was for "ME!" Hummm....well I was telling my friend Lori about this and she said...."Open it early."

So I followed her "good advice" (I know I'm "naughty" but it was only like 4 days from Christmas at this point)and IT WAS A NEW CUUUUUTE "Purse"...just what I would have WANTED....long strap.....cute, cute...and I could tell it was hand made.
I loved it....great colors and shape.
It was the "Total package!!!"

My Step Mom had "no clue" that I had wanted a purse like this. She even had someone make it SPECIAL for me!! She lives in Illinois and she had someone in Missouri make it for me after picking out the fabric and such herself.
VERY NEAT! She told me all this later on.

This just goes to show you that if we don't get in a rush and if we "Wait" on the Lord...HE will work it out for us if we let Him.
Even our tiniest, craziest, "desires!"

Tonight it is SO foggy out.

We have a travel advisory in fact.

I was doing some reading and pondering tonight.

I was thinking about how much I love "Calendars"....
I know I am a NUTHEAD! But I do.
I'm a freak about Calendars.

I love to buy Calendars for myself and for others as gifts.

I gave my friend Nora this really funny....."Nuns Having Fun" Calendar one year. I loved it. She did too. HA! We saw the "new" one for 2008 the other day but we didn't get it for either one if us....we just looked at the photos and laughed.

When the new year rolls around I have to have the "right" Calendars in my house. One for the kitchen....always something that is by an artist that does those "Folksy/American/Country type ones".....

That tradition started when we had some friends from Canada named Beth and Blaine, that were living here for a few years. One Christmas they had a special dinner and invited us and a few other couples over and as a gift they gave us all one of these type of Calendars.
I was THRILLED to say the least.

It was such a great gift, the entire dinner and the calendar was just a bonus.
Their friendship was the REAL gift that day.

They have since moved back to Canada and we still keep in touch with them to this day.

I have to get one of those Calendars for 2008 for my kitchen yet. I just haven't been "on it."
The day I found them I couldn't decide which stype to buy so I ended up only buying the new "office calendar" instead.
So I have to get one soon or they will all be gone!

Next....our office. Okay.....well the past few years.....two or three that is
I've gotten a "Susan Branch" Calendar for the office.
I LOVEEEE her stuff. She is such a cool artist.
She does all kinds of cute little quotes and special handwriting and cute illustrations.

Besides......she lives on "Martha's Vineyard" and that is someplace I've always wanted to go so.....hey why not just get her Calendar in the mean time and dream a bit right????

I'm always "travel dreaming" anyway.

Which leads me to our final Calendar and a very important one. I mean they are ALL important in this house but this one.......is important in it's own right.

Every year since I can't even remember when.....we've had a Calendar from England (and I mean FROM England)in our bathroom.
Well of COURSE!
What else would you expect to adorn the walls of the Mahan "loo?"
Well I do have a few "French tiles" and plagues in there too that Gabe purchased for me in Paris.


It's kind of the "Pièce de résistance" of our bathrooms. HA!

You see, a Calendar is NEEEEEDED in our Master Bedroom bathroom.

It's a very important place you know..both the bathroom and the Calendar....
to write dates and times and occasions on.

This tradition of a "Proper British Bathroom Calendar" began years ago as well when a friend was visiting us from England and presented us with a gifts from there including a lovely Calendar from her "county".....since then she's always given me one.

Which I proceeded to hang in my bathroom. No offense intended. It's just that
I have the most excellent spot for it.....right on the wall behind the bathroom door.
Last year she sent me one of various "sites all over England"....which I loved.

I don't think she will be sending me the traditional "Calendar of England" along with some wonderful "Cadbury" treats like she normally does this year though. We haven't stayed in as close of contact this year...somewhat but not the same.
And I just don't want to ring her up and ask her to do that type of thing for me.

Shop for me a new bathroom Calendar of her country......and ship it to me.

I've already inquired with Gabe's girlfriend who is from England to "scour me up" a Calendar from there but I don't think that's happening either.

It's not that I can't find a Calendar of England here in America. But they are different and I don't like them. They don't hang the same.

The dilemma that I have is......the Calendars from England are spiral bound and have these cute little wire hangers bound into them. That way when there is moisture in the bathroom from the shower they don't "warp" on the edges because they hang differently.

The American ones get really curly on the edges because they aren't made the same.

So....I am tad distressed over the bathroom Calandar issue.

Gabe and the girlfriend are going to England in March so I suppose I can hold off until then....if need be.

My good friend Diane was chatting with me recently and told me about how their church had some wonderful Calendars they had gotten from a local Funeral home and would I like one?

I had to decline her on that offer. I told her...."yeah I try to stay away from those, thank you though." HA! She said she "understood."

There really ARE worse things to be distressed over in life aren't there?

If only some of our battles could be this easy.

I don't think so. I think that creepy injection I had to take again today is something far worse than my Calendar troubles.

I was reading this passage this evening in the Bible:

I think in light of many things....especially things in my own personal life....
I'm not going to get too crazy this year if I can't find the PERFECT Calendar for some of these odd spots in my house.

Besides...who knows what tomorrow may bring...hopefully we may get to flip the Calendar from December into January but our days are in God's hands ultimately...are they not according to what James says?

I am good with that.
